Year 2017: Cryptocurrency Outlook

Postby Bola » Wed Dec 28, 2016 3:47 pm

There are several reasons why 2016 has been a good year in the cryptocurrency community. Generally, the value of cryptocurrencies increased significantly in 2016. For instance, on 1st January 2016 a unit of Bitcoin traded at $434.46 while the price of Ether was 93 cents but as of today Bitcoin is rallying towards $1000 while Ethereum is above $7. This is certainly a December to remember with Bitcoin’s market capitalization reaching an all-time high. Based on occurrences of 2016 it is safe to say the digital currency, the financial beast of no nation, has come to stay due to its significant degree of acceptance and integration into the global financial system.

Awareness and appetite for digital currency grew globally – thanks to world’s debt-driven economy, bias political reforms and harsh capital controls. With few days to the end of 2016, interest in digital currency is still growing stronger. See below for google trend search for cryptocurrency in the last 5 years.

As we approach year 2017, if there is any word that would keep resonating from January to December, 2017 it is disruption! Below is a list of some of our expectations for the coming year:

1. Disruption of global payment systems and landscape
2. The value of cryptocurrencies would increase as a result of insatiable market demand. For instance, bitcoin should be stable in four digits.
3. Landmark investments in cryptocurrency world
4. Possible emergence of enhanced bitcoin network scalability
5. Bitcoin would remain the king but there would be significant growth of other cryptocoins
6. Massive growth of cash for cryptocoins apps and startups
7. Wider merchant acceptance of digital currencies
8. Emergence of new generation of cryptocurrency billionaires
9. Ferocious digital asset phishing and scamming
10. Several cryptocurrency payment integration. Most especially for Bitcoin.
11. Emergence of more national and regional cryptocurrencies like the Dubaicoin.
12. Governments should adopt economic models that would favour cryptocurrency
